Dinosaur Theme

- Room set up:
Dinosaur poster - see through, best mounted on window.

Shell  Stamps &  stamp pads - look at fossils in local rocks and compare 
  to shell pictures.

Fossil Playdough - add coffee grounds and play sand to favorite playdough recipe.

Shells for fossil prints - press shells into fossil playdough.

Dino Dig - sand and uncooked pasta and tools ( small trays, magnifying  glasses, 
  plastic forks,and popsicle sticks).  Assemble "bones" on construction paper 
  with glue.

Plastic Dinosaur Counters 

Bone castings - students can chip away at bone castings made with chicken bones.

Fossils from personal collection - talk about finding fossils with Aunt.

Pig's skull and fossil rock for examination

Life size T-Rex leg cut out of butcher paper - tape to wall so students can 
  compare their height.

- Vocabulary:  dinosaur, paleontologist, skeleton, fossil, extinct, carnivore, 
herbivore, and reptile.

KID PIX (Art Program) - students may use "paint" features to create a critter 
and use the dinosaur stamps to decorate their creations.
